The Minister of ICT discussed cooperation with the Ambassadors of the Republic of Uzbekistan

On December 22, 2022, IT Park hosted a meeting between the Minister for Development of Information Technologies and Communications of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sherzod Shermatov and a delegation of more than 40 Ambassadors of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The purpose of the visit is to get acquainted with the IT market of Uzbekistan, discuss possible cooperation mechanisms to jointly increase the export potential of the country, as well as raise awareness around the world about the new outsourcing market.

During the visit, the Ambassadors of Uzbekistan were acquainted with the activities of IT Park Uzbekistan and the Ministry for Development of Information Technologies and Communications of the Republic of Uzbekistan, as well as the tasks for the coming years.

The meeting was also attended by the heads of a number of resident companies, namely Astrum Academy CEO Botir Arifjanov, Exadel Uzbekistan CEO Yulia Yakovleva, Revotech Deputy Director Jasur Ruzmat and others.

The meeting participants discussed possible mechanisms of cooperation between IT companies and the embassies of the Republic of Uzbekistan.  Particular emphasis during the dialogue was placed on the development of the BPO direction, attracting IT-orders for residents of IT Park Uzbekistan, as well as the opportunities created for BPO-companies, increasing jobs in this direction and its positive impact on the countryʼs economy.

The Minister of ICT spoke about the positive changes that have taken place in the IT sector in recent years, about tax preferences and benefits for IT and BPO-companies, as well as about projects in the field of IT-education and IT-infrastructure in the country.

He also spoke about the importance of choosing Uzbekistan as the next outsourcing destination, mentioning a number of competitive advantages, such as export-oriented legislation, developed IT-infrastructure throughout the country, an affordable workforce, as well as a young population that speaks foreign languages ​​(English, Russian, Arabic, German and other languages).

The guests also learned about the significant achievements of IT Park in increasing the volume of IT-exports and the number of resident IT-companies, the large-scale online project for IT-training “One Million Uzbek Programmers” being implemented in the country, thanks to which 2.5 million people received fundamental IT-education, as well as projects to support and attract women and youth to the IT field.

After the main part of the delegationʼs presentation, a brief tour of the IT Park complex was conducted. Following the meeting, the guests assured that they were ready to cooperate and contribute to the positive effect of ongoing programs to develop the ICT industry in Uzbekistan.
