The Minister of ICT met with the winners of the international programming contest

On December 28, the Minister for Development of Information Technologies and Communications Sherzod Shermatov met with the teams and coaches that took part in the final of the NEERC (semi-final of the ICPC – International Collegiate Programming Contest) international programming contest.

The meeting was also attended by IT Park Deputy Director for Development of Digital Education Makhliyo Mukhsinova, TUIT Rector Bakhtiyor Makhkamov, team coach and TUIT doctoral student Sunatillo Khozhiev, Deputy Director of the Moscow State University branch in Tashkent Tolib Karshiev, trainer and dean of the Faculty of Applied Mathematics and Informatics Shukhrat Sheraliev.

ICPC is considered the worldʼs largest student programming championship. Every year, more than 2,000 students from more than 500 universities test their strength at competitions.

The final of the NEERC (ICPC semi-final) international programming contest was held on December 6-7 in Almaty, Kazakhstan.

Totally, 281 teams from the North Eurasian region from the universities of Uzbekistan, Belarus, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and others took part in the contest. 16 teams from Uzbekistan went to the contest, two of which were awarded certificates:

1. The team “Awesome Team” – Branch of Moscow State University named after M.V. Lomonosov in Tashkent. The team was awarded a 2nd degree diploma after working on 5 tasks.

2. The team “Algo Experts” – Tashkent University of Information Technologies named after Muhammad Al-Khwarizmi. The team was awarded a 3rd degree diploma for working on 4 tasks.

The contest participants had to solve 12 tasks, of which the teams of Russian universities MIPT and HSE, who took 1st and 2nd places, solved 10 tasks each.

According to the results of the contest, 69 teams (for solving 4 tasks) were awarded with certificates of the 3rd level, 27 teams (for solving 5-6 tasks) – of the 2nd level, 13 teams (for solving 7+ tasks) – of the 1st level.

During the meeting, the Minister of ICT expressed gratitude to the participants, mentors and rectors of universities for their success in the field of information technology and for receiving honorary certificates in the ICPC Global semi-finals. He noted that such achievements help Uzbekistan reach a significantly new level and assured that the ministry would provide support not only to universities, but also to schools, so that in the future participants from Uzbekistan would take even more prizes in various competitions.
