From 13 to 16 October in Geneva, Switzerland, the world championship in robotics FIRST Global Challenge was held, where a team from Uzbekistan took part.
The FIRST Global Challenge is an annual Olympic-style robotics competition organized by the International First Committee Association, founded by Dean Kamen in 2016. The purpose of the Olympiad is to develop young peopleʼs interest in science, engineering and technologies of the future. At the moment, the championship is considered the largest Olympiad in robotics.
Every year teams from more than 160 countries take part in the Olympiad. This year, participants from 180 countries of the world competed for the victory.
Uzbekistan was represented at the competition by a team of 5 participants: Muhammad Matchonov and Muhammad Soliev (students of IT Park Tashkent in the course of mobile robotics), Azamat Ruziev and Shukurullo Sodikov (training center Robots & Me, Bukhara), Asadbek Abdullaev (student of Astrum IT-Academy in the course of Software Engineering), as well as mentors – Azamat Karakhanov (IT Park) and Safina Teshabaeva (IT-Academy Astrum).
The Uzbekistan team made it to the playoffs, getting into the top 8 best teams. According to the results of the championship, our team took 5th place, which by now is the best result of performance at this tournament in the history of Uzbekistan.
