The Central Asian Online females’ hackathon TumarisHack took place on May 27 -29.
Over the course of two days, with the support of mentors, participants worked on tasks and created app prototypes to present it further to the jury.
Hackathon is initiated by IT Park with the support of the USAID Project on Business and Business Environment Development, Beeline Uzbekistan Digital Operator, TBC Bank, Women’s Community «Wonder Women».
Out of 85 participating teams, 47 made it to the Demo Day. Hackathon’s focus areas: FinTech, E-commerce, DeepTech, Wonder Women. In the chosen direction, contestants had to provide a solution.
As part of the Wonder Women, participants had to:
- come up with a technology that will determine the emotional coloring of user messages and posts in the Wonder Women APP;
- develop an authorization method for an app created only for women.
The winners of the hackathon on FinTech, DeepTech, E-commerce:
Winner team – DNA. PeTag project - a device that allows monitoring pet’s health condition);
1st runner up – the From MADE to top team (educational platform for medical institutions. Neural networks used here helps students study in an interactive form;
2nd runner up – Fazo team (ecosystem project for supermarkets and sales outlets to resolve issues related to queues).
The winning teams will have the opportunity participate in the acceleration program straightaway.
Other teams that will receive valuable prizes within Wonder Women contest:
- Study Pool (implemented a unique function for receiving, filtering and analyzing text through the API with the possibility of further transferring the results to relational tables. Thus, their API combats negative messages and unwanted senders;
- GGG (an authorization project in the application only for women, which allows communicating securely within the service);
- Mind Optimizer (authorization in the application created only for women).
Hackathon statistics:
550 applications were submitted for the competition:
• 202 from Kazakhstan;
• 186 from Uzbekistan;
• 82 from Kyrgyzstan;
• 35 from Tajikistan;
• 28 from Turkmenistan;
• 17 from other regions.
Applications were divided into areas as follows:
• FinTech — 21%;
• E-commerce — 27%;
• DeepTech - 21%;
• Wonder Women - 31%.
Among the participants were:
• 22% designers;
• 34% managers;
• 44% programmers.
The average age of the participants – 20.
