On December 12–16, 2022, a delegation of Uzbekistan headed by the Deputy Minister for Development of Information Technologies and Communications Jamshid Egamberdiev paid a business trip to the Republic of Korea. The delegation also included Deputy Director for Regional Development of IT Park Uzbekistan Fayzulla Aripzhanov and specialists from the Ministry of ICT.
As part of the trip, the delegation held a number of meetings with large organizations and IT-companies of the Republic of Korea. In particular, representatives of Uzbekistan visited the Seoul City Hall, where they met with the Deputy Director for International Cooperation, Mr. Kim Mi Sun, and got acquainted with the work of the city management system (TOPIS), as well as the capabilities and prospects of the TOPIS system.
A meeting was also held with the Director General of the Eurasian Countries Department of the Korean International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) Cho Hyun Lan. During the meeting, the parties discussed the results of the work carried out during the year on the project “Capacity Building and Sustainable Development of IT Park in Uzbekistan”, signed between KOICA and IT Park. As a result of the negotiations, tasks related to the acceleration of this project were identified.
The topic of startups did not stand aside either – representatives of the IT sector of Uzbekistan held a meeting with Kim Yong-Tae, Vice President of the Korean Advanced Institute for Science and Technology Startups. The Uzbek side was told about the reforms being implemented in the Republic of Korea to support start-up projects and the results achieved.
Additionally, the delegation of Uzbekistan met with the Deputy General Director of Hankook Cloud (Korea Clouds) Son Bu-Kyu on the expansion of Korea Clouds in the Central Asian market. Korea Clouds is a company that specializes in business process outsourcing and IT-outsourcing, providing core services in web design, programming, system integration, and AI data exploration. The company is a resident of IT Park Uzbekistan.
As part of the trip, the delegation of Uzbekistan also took part in the event, where it was told about the further development of e-government in the Republic of Korea, the impact of financial technologies on the financial industry of Korea and ongoing work to support start-up projects.
As a result of the trip, the Ministry for Development of Information Technologies and Communications signed two memorandums of understanding. The first document was signed with the Deputy Minister of Public Administration and Security of Korea Han Chang Sob on the continuation of the project “Organization of the Uzbek-Korean expert group on cooperation in the field of e-government and digital economy”. The second one was with the Chairman of the Korean Center for Financial Technologies, Pyon Yong Han, on cooperation and exchange of experience in the field of financial technologies and the digital economy.
