Today, November 4, 2019, IT Park received the representatives of International Cooperation Agency of the Republic of Korea (KOICA) and at the meeting parties discussed the future mutual cooperation on startup ecosystem development of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
IT Park Deputy Director on Innovation Abdulahad Kuchkarov, Director of IGB & Company Mr. Jung Hoon, Director of Samarkand Business Incubator prof. Jung-Jun Lee, architect Mr. Jiho Park, CEO of Global Entrepreneurs Foundation Mr. Derik Kim, Deputy Director of KOICA Uzbekistan, Ms. Hyun Young Jo, as well as representatives of IT Park have attended the meeting.
The Korean side expressed its interest to cooperate with the IT Park Venture Fund, IT Academy, IT Laboratory and Data Center, as well as directly in IT Park activities to expand mutual partnership and create a collaboration in Uzbek IT sector development.
KOICA representatives also talked about their future plans: a new business incubator will be opened in Tashkent over the next 4 years, in which Korean experts will conduct tracking and mentoring missions; an online platform will be implemented where all novice entrepreneurs can find useful cases and channels related to IT field, learn about incubation and acceleration programs of all organizations, a map with locations of all coworking centers in Uzbekistan, where you can reserve a free workplace.
IT Park representatives reported about infrastructure available in IT Park, the results of the first start-up teams on incubation and acceleration programs, and on the conditions for interacting with teams and trainers.
At the end of the meeting, IT Park and KOICA agreed to establish mutual cooperation: IT Park will help the Korean side with expertise to create incubation and acceleration programs, share selection criteria for programs and experience in developing events, competitions and hackathons.
