Uzbekistan and Germany to join efforts in training IT personnel

On June 13, the IT Park office was visited by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Germany in Tashkent Tilo Klinner and an employee of the Economic Cooperation Department Ralf Maureder.

The guests were welcomed by CEO of IT Park Farkhod Ibragimov, Deputy Director for Innovation Jahongir Radjabov, Head of the Investment and International Relations Department Nigora Mirjalilova, Head of the IT Service Export Development Department Sultonmurod Rasulov and Head of the National Content Development Department on the Internet of the Ministry of Digital Technologies Oybek Ishankhojaev.

On the agenda of the meeting is a discussion of future cooperation and familiarization with the ICT direction of Uzbekistan.

The guests were presented with the activities of IT Park and FZD Global GmbH – IT Park representative offices in Heidelberg, Germany.

The Head of IT Park spoke about the importance of training qualified IT personnel in Uzbekistan, citing as an example such large projects as One Million Uzbek Coders, Coursera, IT Bilim and ITPU as an example. He also noted the potential of young professionals in Uzbekistan, emphasizing that annually more than 25,000 students under the age of 30 receive education in the IT field.

Ambassador Tilo Klinner expressed interest in the IT training program. The parties agreed to cooperate in the field of TOT (Training of trainers), in order to solve the problem of staff shortage in both countries.

The guests noted the positive changes that have taken place in the field of ICT in Uzbekistan in recent years. Special attention was paid to the discussion of cooperation between the German Chamber of Commerce and Industry and IT Park, in order to create new opportunities for IT professionals and companies from both countries. Within the framework of cooperation, the following programs were proposed:

  • Softlanding program for Uzbek companies, allowing to enter the German market;
  • OSS (One Stop Shop) program for German companies;
  • Acceleration program for startups and residents who want to expand their activities to the German market;
  • Organization of investment seminars and forums in Germany to present the investment potential and opportunities of the IT sector of Uzbekistan.

Representatives of IT Park offered to organize a visit of German media to Uzbekistan to get acquainted with the infrastructure opportunities and the IT ecosystem of the republic, and also invited Tilo Klinner to participate in ICT Week 2023, which will be held this fall.
