Uzbekistan and Saudi Arabia discuss digitalization cooperation

Minister of Digital Technologies Sherzod Shermatov met with Yusuf al-Otaibi, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Uzbekistan, to discuss the expansion of bilateral digital cooperation.

The parties noted that bilateral relations have reached a new level, with high-level cooperation between the two states positively impacting joint projects in information technology and other sectors.

Discussions focused on the implementation of the "Green" data center project currently being developed in Uzbekistan by the Saudi company DataVolt. The meeting reviewed the project's current status and the prospects for its subsequent development phases.

Minister Shermatov described the joint initiatives with Saudi Arabia as a model of effective and mutually beneficial cooperation for other international partners.

The meeting also addressed the growth of the Saudi market and the presence of leading global firms there. Proposals were considered to attract these companies to the Uzbek market, expand the export of remote services, and leverage the opportunities provided by IT Park Uzbekistan.

The parties exchanged views on jointly promoting these sectors to increase remote service exports from Uzbekistan to international markets. Particular attention was given to strengthening human capital through joint seminars and training programs.
