On October 11, 2022, the directors board of the VEON international telecommunications holding visited the IT Park Uzbekistan complex in Tashkent to get acquainted with the activities of the organization and ongoing measures to promote the IT sector among the population Uzbekistan.
Oleg Pekos, First Deputy Minister of ICT development in Uzbekistan, introduced the guests to the government's plans to support and popularize the ICT sector, in particular, the implementation of the necessary infrastructure and the development of IT education to create qualified and competitive workforce.
CEO of IT Park Farkhod Ibragimov spoke about the work to develop digital literacy among the population, the creation of IT clusters that support and accompany local IT companies and IT products from start to market, as well as special attention to the development of the BPO sphere in Uzbekistan in order to increase the export of IT services.
The guests noted the stability of the course of reforms carried out by the government as part of the digital transformation strategy and becoming a regional IT hub. In addition, the delegation confirmed plans to invest in the development and scaling of the Group's subsidiary, Beeline Uzbekistan. The operator’s digital division, BeeLab, which became a resident in 2019, and international IT teams of the group of companies will also work in IT Park.
By the end of 2023, VEON plans to almost double the number of BeeLab specialists, from 130 to more than 250 people, and strengthen the industry's talent pool.
In addition, the guests were given a tour of the complex, in which the new offices of Aloqabank and Uztelecom have already opened their doors, and by 2024 17 high-class buildings with conference rooms, an IT Academy, an IT University, a sports complex, coworking centers, IT - residences, hotel and office space.
