On April 5, 2023 the president of the Confederation of Lithuanian Industrialists, Mr. Vidmantas Janulevičius, Lithuanian Consul General in Almaty, Mr. Gvidas Kerušauskas, and President of the Lithuanian National Association of Road Carriers, Romas Austinskas visited to the IT Park Uzbekistan.
The purpose of the visit was to discuss opportunities for cooperation in the areas of education and development of entrepreneurship in the IT industry.
The guests were met by the Deputy director of IT Park for the development of digital education Makhliyo Mukhinova, Head of the investment department of international relations Nigora Mirjalilova and Head of the department for the development of startup ecosystem Jahongir Kagirov.
The guests were presented with the activities of the IT Park. Makhliyo Mukhinova spoke about the IT Park residency program and gave an overview of the education sector. She also spoke about the role of IT Park in promoting the development of the IT industry in Uzbekistan.
During the meeting, Vidmantas Janulevičius shared information about Lithuania's startup system, focusing on the development of logistics in the country. In addition, he noted that about two thousand drivers working in logistics in Lithuania are natives of Uzbekistan.
Vidmantas Janulevičius and Gvidas Kerušauskas praised the positive dynamics of Uzbekistan's IT industry development. They stressed that the government has chosen the right course for the development of the startup ecosystem and the industry as a whole. The head of the Lithuanian Confederation of Industrialists expressed particular interest in education and such projects as One Million Uzbek coders, the Coursera educational platform, as well as the successful Uzbek startup Arzon Apteka.
The dialogue participants paid special attention to the development of the fintech ecosystem in both Lithuania and Uzbekistan.
As a result of the meeting, an agreement was reached to create a joint platform to exchange experiences in supporting the startup ecosystem and the sphere of logistics.
