ICT Ministry and Mastercard Inc. sign cooperation memorandum

On June 20, Minister for Development of Information Technologies and Communications Sherzod Shermatov, Deputy Minister of Public Education Rustam Karimjanov and IT Park CEO Farhod Ibragimov met with MasterCard Vice President Sami Lahoud in New York.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the priorities of cooperation with Mastercard in promoting the development of e-commerce ecosystems, building the capacity of small and medium businesses, and creating a potential partner platform, including online payments and other areas.

Sherzod Shermatov noted that Mastercard is one of the leaders in creating global payment innovations. The company plays an important role in the development of e-commerce and electronic payment systems, as well as in increasing the potential for digital transformation for small and medium-sized businesses.

The sides also discussed cooperation on educational projects and building the capacity of small and medium-sized businesses, launching Entrepreneurs Odyssey, MasterCard Academy and other online platforms in Uzbek, providing assistance in creating e-commerce portals for small and medium-sized businesses of Uzbekistan and holding workshops and lectures for university students.

Following the meeting, the Ministry for the Development of Information Technologies and Communications and Mastercard Inc. signed a memorandum of cooperation.
