Minister of ICT had a meeting with CEO of EPAM Systems in New York

On June 20, in New York, Minister for Development of Information Technologies and Communications Sherzod Shermatov had a meeting with Arkadiy Dobkin, founder, president and chairman of directors board at EPAM Systems. Meeting was organized in mixed mode to which CEO of EPAM joined online. Deputy Minister of Public Education Rustam Karimjanov, CEO of IT Park Farhod Ibragimov and other representatives of the company also attended the meeting.

The sides discussed the issues of training well-qualified IT professionals in Uzbekistan and creating more jobs in the sector.

Arkadiy Dobkin noted that Uzbekistan has created excellent conditions and opportunities for IT companies. As he notes, this was the reason why the management of EPAM Systems chose Uzbekistan for the relocation of their professionals. He also expressed confidence that in the near future Uzbekistan will become a major IT hub in the entire region.

The company CEO also stressed that he intends to develop EPAM in Uzbekistan in the coming years. He added that in some countries it takes 10 years for a company to fully develop, while in Uzbekistan it can happen in 3-5 years.

In turn, Sherzod Shermatov expressed his readiness to provide comprehensive support to EPAM Systems and assured that necessary effort would be taken to facilitate the work of foreign specialists in Uzbekistan.

Participants also discussed holding the annual EPAM Global conference in Uzbekistan. As part of it, EPAM Systems professionals will get involved in an IT tour to get acquainted with the conditions and opportunities for working in Uzbekistan.

As a result of the meeting, the parties agreed on the implementation of all of the above projects.
